Slim

Meet Slim. He is in his late 60s and diagnoised with stage 4 bladder cancer.  His wife contacted me and told me that his children had come to town unannounced to attend a benefit for him. One of his wishes was to have family portraits made while everyone was here.  Ask and you got it Slim! I was very happy that she had asked me to be a part of their family for just a little while.  Please add this sweet family to your prayers as they continue down a very long road.

Praying for the White Family

My phone rang a little after 10 last night.  Only two things happen when it rings that late. It is either one of my best friends that cant wait to tell me something funny or a bad call. It was not my friend.

One of my clients  friend’s husband had passed away in a car accident. A young family with young children. I have been terribly upset. I originally met them in February but Mom had scheduled another appointment to get the entire family images made in March.

Tonight I got this text message from her:

I need you to know the pictures you took of our family in March are one of my only comforts right now.

It breaks my heart.  I urge you, even if it is not a professional photographer, to take pictures of your family. Do not wait for the perfect hair day or to lose those extra 5 lbs.  They do not have to be perfect images.  We all have cell phones, cameras, all kinds of technology that we can document our time here. Do not be the one holding the camera all the time. Pass it off! I preach this in my one on one classes. We are only given a short time here to share with each other. Make it worthwhile and memorable.

Please take a minute a pray for a family you may not even know that is grieving the loss of their husband and father and even their extended family that need comfort in this time.

Kelly - I am so sorry for their loss Brandy. We’ll be sending prayers of strength and comfort for them. A friend of mine and I were talking about this just today about how, now with the kids I take pictures and more importantly I get in pictures more often for them to have those precious memories.

You are and awesome lady and you do absolutely wonderful work and I am I PROUD to call you friend. I wish you hugs and prayers of strength and comfort too.

Kim - I cannot agree more… My husband passed away almost a year ago & one regret i have i that we didnt take enough pictures as a family. Sure, there are snapshots of one or a few of us, but only a few of us all together. Now that he is no longer with us, I make sure my sons & I have photos made together at every function. These still shots are precious memories in the making!

Jane Ann Lane - I love photos. . .yet I am the Mom and Grammy that TAKES all the photos, of the kids, and grandkids…the one who is never passing off the camera. . .not bc I don’t want to, I just like taking the photos. Thanks for the reminder, Brandy, and so sad about the loss, for this family.

Elizabeth - I hit post too soon. :/ I wanted to add that I am praying for Jessica, John Nic, and Anna Britt. I have been able to think of nothing else. My heart is heavy, and I wish there were something else I could do…but I will pray. Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those that are crushed in spirit”.
Psalm 18:2
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the hornof my salvation, my stronghold.

Marla Nelson - Well said Brandy! I have a professor that gave new meaning to an old saying this semester, this too shall pass. That means everything not just the bad experiences but the great ones too. The time passes so quickly. Thank you for sharing, and for remembering my friend!

The Brat Pack - We met Jessica several months ago in our mommy group when we were all expecting our babies in July 2011. Our friendship grew over the past nine months as we shared stories and experiences over our precious little ones. Jessica’s love for her family was and continues to be a testament of the true power of motherhood. She is an example of strength, respect, and courage for her family and friends. As we hug our little ones a little tighter tonight, Jessica, John Nic and Anna Britt will be at the forefront of our prayers.
Jessica, today and over the long haul, we are here for you.
Love, All of us Brat Pack mommies

DAVID WATT - I DID NOT KNOW THIS MAN, BUT I UNDERSTAND THAT IS A BROTHER IN CHRIST, I WAS ONE THE FIRST ONES ON THE SCENE THAT AFTERNOON, WHEN I GOT DOWN TO THE CAR THE RADIO WAS WAS PLAYING GOSPEL MUSIC. WHEN AROUND TO WHERE I COULD GET TO HIM AND MAYBE SEE WHAT I COULD DO, FOUND HIS EMPLOYEE TAG AND BEGAN CALLING HIS NAME AND RUBBING HIS ARM. I THEN REALIZED THAT HE GOT MEET JESUS THAT DAY, I WAS SAD FOR HIS FAMILY, BUT MY THOUGHTS ARE THAT WHEN YOU KNOW JESUS THERE ARE THINGS WORSE THAN DEATH.
THE MEDINA FIRE DEPT, HUMBOLDT RESCUE TEAM DID A WONDERFUL JOB IN HANDLING HIM WITH THE UTMOST RESPECT.

March 24, 2012 Garland Wedding

Mike and Cheryl had the quaint and beautiful setting of Green Frog Village for their wedding. Oh my goodness! From the little church to the heart shaped laked in the back it was a beautiful place! Alot of the spring trees were in bloom and it could not have been more perfect weather. I dont know about everyone else but my jaw dropped when I heard Mike sing to Cheryl at the alter. I SOOOO wish I had a recording of the song her wrote and sang to her it was beautiful. Btw one of his songs is currently #2 in Europe. HELLO I shot a recording artist wedding! How bout them apples?

My favorite moment of the day was when Michael and his brothers performed the song “Your Heart Is Safe With Me” that he wrote. Also, being walked down the aisle by my son Drue Alford and having both my children and all of my grandchildren to share our special day. All my dreams came true in one day.

March 17, 2012 JuVette Wedding

Stephani and I had an absolute blast at Mac and Jordan’s wedding at Heartwood Hall.  This place was breathtaking and from a photographer’s eye it was heaven!

We arrived before the wedding party to stake out the place and we just kept saying ooohhh and ahhhh every time we turned around.  Trying to move the furniture around in the rooms for shots of the bride was like moving a car too! You know why? Because that stuff was real! It wasn’t Pier One dooeys it was the real deal.  The detail and the time the owners of the property put into this historical site is amazing. AND the weather, the weather, the weather could not have been more perfect for an outdoor wedding in the Four Seasons Garden.

And lets not forget the party afterwards! The food, the dancing, the toasts and the way the bride kept looking at the groom made me smile.

Thank you so much Mac and Jordan for choosing brandy kemp Photography to be a part of this special day in your life.  We wish you many many many years of health and happiness.
